Day 159 on the Appalachian Trail Miles Hiked to Date: 1756 Hiked yesterday: 14 Trail Miles, Miles left to hike: 428
First, this is going to be a short blog. I'm on a "limited time" situation. And sorry for the late posting.
Second, thanks for everyone's comments about cell phone service ... I'm taking it all into consideration.
Chipmunk ate breakfast, dressed and got ready to hike. She was in a good mood and so were we. It felt like a good day. We drove back to the trailhead and Chipmunk pulled on her backpack. It was 8 AM when she hugged and kissed us goodbye and crossed the street and resumed the AT.
We asked her to text us when the trail took her back to the woods and in less than an hour, we received the text saying just that. Sweet! I always feel safer once she's out of the town area and into the woods.
Papa Chip and I took care of our in town errands and headed towards the meet up point for the day.
We waited a few hours and then Chipmunk emerged from the woods. I was immediately relieved to see her. We hugged and she dropped her pack to the ground. She started telling us all about her hiking day while Papa Chip started preparing dinner.
Chocolate Chip curled up next to her while she ate and stayed there until after her dinner was over. We all threw our dishes in the sink and put a dvd on for some night time entertainment. We hit the sack by 9pm ... better update tomorrow.
If you enjoy reading the story of our adventure, and you’d like to send some “Trail Magic” to Chipmunk, click on the “Donate” button at the upper right corner of today’s blog post. Chipmunk maintains a twitter account: @openlymtngoat where a common hashtag is #GoChipmunk . She (or we) will try to answer any questions you may have about her hike and this family adventure.
Thanks again for all your support,
Mama Chip, Papa Chip, Chipmunk and her dog, Chocolate Chip
