Ok, OK, … I know what you’re wondering … WHAT? They were supposed to start riding on Saturday towards New Paltz, NY. And that is true. Allow me to explain. We got up early, repacked our pannier bags, loaded all of it into our Vdub and drove to Pottstown to retrieve our bikes. When we arrived, track director Glen and his wife invited us to breakfast and we all went, including our daughter, the Editor. It was nice to share another meal with her before she drove off with our Vdub to enjoy her summer at home.
I LOVE CAKE! Not just a little bit … it’s actually my favorite dessert! I’ve been known to befriend families at Chuck e. Cheese just as they’re finishing serving the cake, in order to score a piece. Do you know how many birthday cakes Frankenbutt has bought for me over the years when it wasn’t even close to my birthday??
We evaluated the # of miles ahead and decided that we could still be to New Paltz on Thursday, June 9th if we left on Sunday instead of Saturday. We stayed and had a blast! I scored the 16 moto race at the finish line with Renee and the other Renee. The Beast raced the boys in a combined moto and showed a gutsy move in her second moto that made Frankenbutt and me tingle!
As the mains ran, Cathy cut pieces of cake from separate chocolate and a vanilla cakes. I panicked when I realized that the kids were getting slices of cake and that I couldn’t leave the finish line until the race concluded. I shouted to the announcer to say “Cathy, hold a large corner piece of the vanilla cake for Tammy” just to be sure. Frankenbutt gently reminded me that most would prefer chocolate … there would be plenty of vanilla left … I WAS SHOCKED! And he was right.
